A lamp you carry like a candle.

Set it on its coaster and it lights, filling in seconds. Pick it up and it stays lit on stored charge — then fades, like a flame burning down. The fade is the battery gauge. Carrying it somewhere is the point.

A real bulb, yours to choose

The lamp takes an ordinary screw-in low-voltage bulb — the kind you can buy anywhere, in whatever warmth and style you like. The part most likely to fail is the part anyone can replace, with no tools and no permission.

Your bulb choice sets your runtime. A dim, glassy filament carries longest; a bright one is more urgent. You discover the tradeoff by living with it, not by reading a spec sheet.

It fades, on purpose

Off the coaster, the lamp runs on stored charge and dims the way a candle burns down. There is no battery indicator because the light itself is the indicator. When it starts to go, you set it down — anywhere there's a coaster — and it fills again in seconds.

No battery to wear out

The charge lives in supercapacitors, not a lithium battery: rated for hundreds of thousands of cycles and a service life measured in decades. Nothing swells, nothing degrades, nothing needs replacing in year eight.

The coaster is the platform

The powered coaster the lamp lives on is a dock other objects will share. Set it down at any angle, in the dark, one-handed — it seats. When the dock design freezes, its full interface spec will be published as an appendix to the Standard, so anyone can build for it, or replace it, without us.
